Several local businesses, citizens and City of Belleview employees helped to construct the playground in a six-hour day. The Fred King Playground is a newer playground built with the help of the Home Depot KABOOM funding. It also contains basketball and tennis courts as well as a playground for small children and a walking trail which weaves through and around several of the league fields. The Belleview Sports Complex is an 80-acre park which is used throughout the year by several football, softball, baseball and soccer leagues, both youth and adult. In conjunction with the building rental, renters also have use of the large pavilion attached to the building. The Community Center holds approximately 100 guests, and includes tables and chairs, private bathrooms, and a small kitchenette area. Only one rental is scheduled per day Friday though Sunday. The facility is also available for private rentals Friday through Sunday for events like baby showers, wedding receptions, and birthday parties. The Community Center is available for businesses to rent/host classes Monday through Thursday for 4-hour time blocks. The Belleview Community Center is located at 5615 SE 110th Place in Belleview by the Wilma Loar Splash Pad. Lake Lillian is host to several civic events throughout the year as well as weekend birthday parties and an occasional wedding. The focal point of the City is Lake Lillian, which contains a fishing dock for the children and senior citizens, as well as several picnic pavilions and a walking trail that is used by young and young at heart. The City has a variety of both active and passive recreational facilities. Other events in the City include monthly Friday Foodie Fest held the 4th Friday of the month from 5:00 pm - 9:00 pm by Lake Lillian (January through September). In October, our annual free Trunk or Treat event takes place the Saturday before Halloween. In December, Light Up Lake Lillian takes place and the entire lake glows with holiday cheer. Belleview actually gets its name from the French words “belle” and “view” which translates to “beautiful vistas” such as the ones that can be seen around the town.Īs a focal point of our “City with Small Town Charm” many events take place around Lake Lillian every year. ![]() It is said that Belleview was named after the daughter of one of the founders, but that story has largely been discounted.
